David's name has been synonymous with Stoke Bruerne and the waterways environment for many years and he left behind an enourmous legacy. In lasting memory a charitable trust in his name has been established. The David Blagrove Charity Trust.
As such, the trust seeks to enhance local landscapes and heritage, whilst encouraging and supporting local community collaboration within the Stoke Bruerne and surrounding areas. David was a passionate advocate of utilising the UK's canal and waterways network. He provided a wealth of knwledge and experience on it's early working history and campained tirelessly for its restoration. He understood what benifits could ensue by experiencing the canals network and its collaborative nature of the community in which he lived, will contribute to the legacy that this trust intends to nurture.
The trust's second aim is to provide an educational and developmental experience. As a teacher and mentor of young people David was a keen advocate of youth empowerment. The trusts more long term plans are to seek to engage young people in canal based activities, in order to develop them personally and socially, as well as promoting community cohesion.
The trustees now invite and welcome support from the local community and beyond. For a small fee of £2 a month direct debit or £24 per annum (concession rates available) your support could involve:
- Helping with fundraising projects
- Utalising your expertise/skills in the ongoing development and work of the charity
